Ballard FC took home another victory this past Sunday, June 5th, defeating Cultures United 8-1 in their “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Friendly match. This Friday, June 10th, Ballard FC will face off against PDX FC from Portland, Oregon for a very important USL matchup. Kickoff is at 7:00pm.
Friday’s matchup will be viewed by another sellout crowd at Seattle’s Interbay Stadium and will be broadcast live at goballardfc.com. If you weren’t lucky enough to get a ticket for the match, you can join fans and supporters at Reuben’s Brews Taproom to watch the match on the big screen.
PDX FC is coming into Friday’s match with an impressive record, sitting just above Ballard FC in second place in the USL2 Northwest Division standings but with more games played.
“First and foremost, we recognize that PDX will be a tough matchup for us. They are a club that is loaded with talent and have also navigated the USL2 schedule for much longer than we have. As a result, we expect nothing less than a very tough game,” said Head Coach Jason Farrell. “Our staff will work hard to make sure that our guys are mindful of the PDX strengths but, at the same time, they also need to understand that we do a lot of things quite well and need to focus more on what we do as a team. Our guys recognize that this is a big game and will be prepared for that sort of battle.”
The play-by-play broadcast will be called by Payton Berens and Jim Harvey and will be available starting at 6:45pm on the team homepage.
Ticketholders should arrive early. Doors open at 5:30pm for the 7:00pm kickoff and fans will have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of Reuben’s Brews beers, including the team’s own “Up The Bridges!” – an American Pale Ale in the Reuben’s Brews Foundation Beer Garden. Friday’s game is also “Music in the Community” Night where live music from 45th St. Brass will be played from 6:00pm-6:40pm. If you can’t make it to Interbay, the live music as well as the game can be streamed on the big screen at Reuben’s Brews or HERE! Birrieria Pepe El Toro food truck and Mainstay Provisions food tent will also be available to purchase food from before and during the game. With a heated competition ahead, Friday’s matchup is shaping up to be a nail biter.
Friday’s match is sold out, however, tickets for future matches are just $15 for general admission or $12.50 for standing and they are available for advanced purchase.
Following the June 10th match against PDX FC, Ballard FC is excited to announce that we are hosting a beach cleanup at Golden Gardens this Saturday, June 11th to celebrate World Oceans Day.
Ballard FC is partnering with Puget Soundkeeper, a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping their local waters clean, and the players and staff will participate in ridding the beach of any debris that does not naturally break down and could be harmful to the environment, such as beer cans and plastic bottles. To finish off the weekend, Ballard FC will be traveling to Olympia, Washington to, once again, compete against Oly-Town FC. Ballard FC fans can use the discount code BALLARDFAN for 25% off tickets HERE.
Although Ballard FC cruised to a smooth victory in their last matchup against Oly Town FC, this will be the team’s first match on the road and without the intense energy that is guaranteed at Interbay Stadium.
“Not being able to play in front of our amazing supporters isn’t ideal, if for no other reason than we love the energy they bring, their commitment to partying for 90 minutes and the fact that we love to put on a show for them,” Farrell explained. “Let’s be honest, having 1300 fans cheering you on is an amazing advantage, but our players have all played in tough environments. I am confident that the challenge in front of us will be something that they will embrace and not run from.”
Oly Town currently sits in sixth place in the USL2 Northwest Division standings.
