With the USL W League coming to Ballard, make sure to prepare for this summer by checking out the local women’s soccer scene already in Seattle.
This fall, you can watch the University of Washington Huskies, Seattle University Redhawks, and the Seattle Pacific Falcons in the respective collegiate seasons.
The Huskies are 2-1-2 (W-L-T) so far and play this Thursday at Long Beach State before returning home next week to kickoff the Big Ten season against USC on September 12th. Get tickets to next week’s match. Historically, the program has produced many “Pro Dawgs,” including Seattle Reign midfielder and new member of our ownership group Olivia Van der Jagt. Last season, the Dawgs finished 9-5-5 overall and 4-4-3 in PAC-12 play. Follow the Dawgs this season as they look to start off strong in their first year in the Big Ten.
The Redhawks are currently 3-1-1 and will take on Hawaii at Championship Field this Thursday. Tickets for Thursday’s match are available here. The Redhawks have won six Regular Season Western Athletic Conference (WAC) titles and five WAC Tournament Championships, with their most recent title coming in 2020. Last season, the Redhawks finished 10-9-2 with 6-2-1 conference record. This year, the Redhawks will look to bring another WAC title to Championship Field.
Like both Ballard FC and the new USL W team, the Falcons play their home matches at Interbay Stadium. However, They will kick off their season on the road with matches against Sonoma State (Sep. 5th) and Cal Poly Humboldt (Sep. 7th) before the home opener on September 12th against Hawaii Hilo at 4:30. You can purchase tickets and watch the Falcons play at Interbay before heading over to Husky Soccer Stadium later that evening. Last season, the Falcons finished 13-4-5 with an undefeated 9-0-5 record in conference play, finishing atop the Greater Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC). This season, the Falcons will look to win their third GNAC title in four years.
Like with Ballard FC, the new USL W League team hopes to feature lots of local college talent on the roster, which may include players from these three universities. By following these schools, you can support local women’s soccer and also get a preview of what’s to come next Spring.
